So that's three places that you can easily change the volume of whatever sound you're currently attending to. Logic, which is Apple's audio flagship program, also has a similar structure. You can easily adjust all types of volume quite easily in different places.

On the most important mixing 'rules' considering volume is that if the instrument or drum sample is so quiet that it really cannot be heard with the other instruments, it should probably go, because you're just filling the sonic space with garbage that could be used for instruments that actually contribute to the mix. This does make sense, and any mixing engineer will offer a similar viewpoint, so ensure that if you keep lowering decibels and realize that something is not identifiable in a complete mix, it adds nothing and could actually be lowering the value of your instrument selection.

You can expect that a sound's volume, when lowered by 6 decibels, will be lowered just about half, and the same thing on the way up; raising a sound by 6 decibels will double its volume. When adjusting the volume of hi hats, it's a good idea to let it sit where you think it should and then take a few decibels off that further. Because the human ear has a tendency to overcompensate for these higher frequencies, so they don't need to be as high.

Velocity and volume are not the same things. Lowering volume does make a sound quieter, but velocity comes in at another level as well. If you are manipulating a multi-sampled drum samples patch, then playing at a different velocity can even trigger a different sample entirely. This is true performance playing and synthesizing.

You should always take care when lowering volume, and never make decisions recklessly. Pay attention with every creative decision. One tip offered by a lot of professional mixers is that sounds should be lowered and never increased in volume. This will ensure that no clipping occurs and that sounds are the best volume they could possibly be. With drum samples, try to mix it in as a group, separate from the mix, before mixing it together.

People (original name People Weekly) is a weekly American magazine of celebrity and human-interest stories, published by Time Inc. As of 2006, it has a circulation of 3.75 million and revenue expected to top $1.5 billion. It was named "Magazine of the Year" by Advertising Age in October 2005, for excellence in editorial, circulation and advertising. People ranked #6 on Advertising Age's annual "A-list" and #3 on Adweek's "Brand Blazers" list in October 2006.

The magazine runs a roughly 50/50 mix of celebrity and human-interest stories. People's editors claim to refrain from printing pure celebrity gossip, enough so to lead celebrity publicists to propose exclusives to the magazine, evidence of what one staffer calls a "publicist-friendly strategy."

People has a website, http://www.people.com, which focuses exclusively on celebrity news. In February 2007, the website drew 39.6 million page views "within a day" of the Golden Globes. However "the mother ship of Oscar coverage" broke a site record with 51.7 million page views on the day after the Oscars, beating the previous record set just a month before from the Golden Globes.

People was co-founded by Dick Durrell and Matthew Maynard] as a spin-off from the "People" page in Time magazine. Its first managing editor, Richard Stolley, characterized the magazine as "getting back to the people who are causing the news and who are caught up in it, or deserve to be in it. Our focus is on people, not issues."

It debuted in 1974, with a March 4 issue featuring actress Mia Farrow, then starring in the movie The Great Gatsby, on the cover. In 1996 Time, Inc. launched a Spanish-language magazine entitled People en Espaol. The company has said that the new publication emerged after a 1995 issue of the original magazine was distributed with two distinct covers, one featuring the slain Tejano singer Selena and the other featuring the hit television series Friends; the Selena cover sold out while the other did not. Though the original idea was that Spanish-language translations of articles from the English magazine would comprise half the content of People en Espaol over time came to have entirely original content.

Snares are just about an essential part of most popular songs; everything you hear on the radio and nearly all songs on all CDs in the rhythm and blues and hip hop, rap and dance genres. Snare use is determined based on the type of music and the groove of the song.

In urban styles of music ranging from the RnB genre to gangster rap and soul, snare drum samples use is quite varied, but a lot of songs display it on beats 2 and 4 in the music bar placement. The kick usually sits on the first beat or third and this is because it has more of a downbeat impact, while the snare subtly modifies the groove.

There are literally thousands of different snare types out there for use in computer music production. Two of the types seem to dominate the music scene, though, and these are the real snares recorded in professional settings and made available to beat makers, and the snare drum samples that are generated with different programming in devices like drum machines and keyboard workstations. The snare drums made by computers can also be very realistic and not synthetic-sounding.

Effects play a big role in the final sound of the snare drum samples, and one of the most common one is reverb. The reverb effect doesn't just affect the sample, but can affect the whole song, even if only the snare is subjected to the reverb process. The reverb can be dynamic, as in applied throughout the song with variable parameters, or on a per-sample basis, with it having been applied prior to use and perhaps only affected by an ADSR envelope or similar.

In dance music, the snare drum samples are often combined with the kick drums and 'teamed up' for beats 2 and 4 from the bar, with the kick hitting consistently from beats 1 through 4. This technique is used simply to relieve the ear of the persistent bass kick on every beat, and also serves other uses, especially if the snare and kick do not share the same groove template. This sort of an affect can result in a dynamic drum samples groove that is very pleasing to the ear and we can actually spot this in many club hits playing today. The technique has been popular for over 10 years now!

Using snare drum samples as best as you can is an art form, and it is an easy goal to reach consistently if you experiment enough. You need to keep an ear out for new methods and new techniques all the time, and apply what you want to your own tracks, not worrying about the fine things at this point.
